The work of infection control team is difficult to measure. Unfortunately hygiene is often associated with costs. However, the question should be: What would be the costs if there would be no infection prevention?
These expenses would be higher than the costs for infection control personnel and activities.
Another challenge is the shortage of infection control specialists. The medical specialist for hygiene and environmental medicine is the most wanted doctor in Germany.
